The Way I See It…

My yoga manifesto

I believe that home is where the breath is.
I believe that the world needs more yoga.
I believe that ‘rest’ is not a dirty word.
I believe that we yearn to experience - even if only for a millisecond - the wonder of our own being.

What can yoga offer us?
Yoga grants us permission to explore, to move, to breathe and to rest;
the space and the time to pause, to feel, to befriend whatever arises.
Yoga offers the potential for an experience of freedom and space;
the chance to dwell in the space between thoughts, the space between breaths.
Yoga offers us the tools to adjust our subsequent responses to our initial reactions,
to see things with greater clarity.
To practice yoga is to practice meeting ourselves where we are.

Who can practice?
Anyone can practice yoga in a way that works for them. There is not one way!
What we do “on the mat” is the tip of the iceberg.
In the words of Sri Aurobindo: “all life is yoga”.

What do I teach?
I teach Gentle, Hatha and Restorative yoga to groups and private students, including meditation and breath-work (pranayama), both in person and online.

What inspires me?
I am inspired to help others find peace in both the storms and the stillness.
I am inspired to help others to see that there are no “others”.
I am especially passionate about the benefits of restorative yoga as a radical practice of sanctioned rest, and as a much-needed antidote to our addiction with “doing”.
