Restorative Yoga

What is Restorative Yoga?

  • Restorative Yoga is a practice of conscious & intentional rest, taking refuge in our own innate sense of peace; the sense of peace that can get swallowed up in the “busy”-ness of life.

  • In this practice, the body is supported by props (bolsters/pillows/blankets/yoga blocks etc) whilst lying down in longer-held postures of stillness without strain or effort, giving time for the nervous system to balance, the mind to settle into evenness, the breath to deepen and for there to be an experience of space.

  • Restorative Yoga offers the experience of deep and nourishing relaxation and a respite from the many different roles we play in life, the juggling of multiple priorities and the sense of stress and overwhelm we can often feel.

  • Restorative Yoga provides a gradual, inward journey to a relaxed, centred and more grounded experience of ourselves. The practice creates the opportunity to soften of our obsession with "human doing" and abide in a sense of our “human being”.

I’ve been attending the Thursday evening restorative class for three months now and enjoy it immensely. The teacher, Wendy, is amazing: attentive, patient, thorough, informative, understanding & compassionate towards students and their individual requirements/ needs. A great way to finish off the week, leaving one feeling rested and restored. Highly recommended!
